I have been forced, through different entertainment shows which are basically all the same, to watch and rewatch this clip repeatedly. I didn't think, if you can see the few seconds leading up to it, that there's any doubt she's joking. She's got a big grin on her face, like she knows she's gonna do it. Pop Culture King, this falls in your domain, but reputable "news" shows, We Have Bigger Things To Talk About! Honestly.

I'm here, sorry--out of breath. This was so obviously a joke and I am sick of people farting on Faith. She is a wonderful, caring, loving human being and she loves Carrie Underwood more than she loves Tim McGraw. She was jumping for joy afterward because she was so happy for Carrie but none of the entertainment programs bother to show that.
