What I Did Sunday Night

I think I have found my new calling. Landscaping.

Actually, I probably won't be changing jobs anytime soon but let me tell you (and show you) what I helped do.

First off, lets flashback to how my yard looked this past Spring. Pretty rough:

My next door neighbour Steve did some work in his backyard that involved driving a bobcat between our homes and around the backyard. In the process, the yards got fairly messy, lots of grass lost its life. The "garden" at the top of my hill was removed...I say "garden" because it had just become a disaster of overgrown weeds and I am glad to see it go (you can see it in the picture above).

Anyways, yesterday Steve finished up what needed to be done in the yard and it was time for some repair work. Here is what the yard looked like after the machines rolling through for a couple of weekends:

As you can see, it was a bit of a mess. But have no fear...I learned to landscape by laying sod. Steve gave me a crash course on the art of sod laying and away I went. We started laying it around 8p.m and I came in after 11p.m. It was hard work, made harder of course the darker it got. Here is how it came out:

When I came back inside after my hours of manual labour I was the dirtiest I have been in years. It took a 25 minute shower to get me even close to clean. So after all this, let's hope the sod lives! Long live the sod!!!
