Pay it Forward
Today Cherie and I experienced something amazing - a random act of kindness by a complete stranger.
We bought a new patio set this afternoon. The girl at Zellers, Jody (who, besides my Nan of course, was the most helpful and friendly associate at Zellers EVER) said that the boxes (there are 3 of them) weren't too big and should fit in our car. When she brought them out, they were bigger than she thought and there was no way the chair box would fit in the car. Anyways, we decide that I will take the table and umbrella home and maybe ask Steve next door to help us out with his truck. I pull the car up out front and discover that not even the table will fit in the car. As we are struggling with this, a guy walks back to us and asks if we live close by. He then offers up his truck as he has some time to kill and wouldn't mind giving us a hand. Can you even believe it? So he pulls up his truck and we load the stuff in (the umbrella fit in our car) and he follows us home. He even helped me unload it into the garage. It was amazing. A complete stranger willing to help us out. I think that perhaps he was a police officer as he was wearing a Durham Regional Police Jacket. If this is the kind of officers we have in our community I feel good about living here as having people like this in our city makes it a better place.
So now Cherie and I will pay it forward and do something nice for someone else who will hopefully then do the same.
